Brooklyn Baby

Because we were going to Atlanta for the weekend (more on that to come), Fix took last week off. We decided to spend the beginning of the week visiting our friends in NYC.
Here's the only family shot I got of us... in front of the Coney Island subway stop.
But let me back up a second... We rode the subway from Brooklyn down to the historic Coney Island because we Fixes had never been there before. Rock loved his first trip on the NYC subway system.
Although they weren't too good at posing for pictures...
Rock and Geneva were fast friends. They nicely shared their toys and their colds with each other.
In the background you can see the famous Cyclone rollercoaster. It first opened on June 26th, 1927 and a ride only cost 25 cents! Since it now costs $8 to ride, and Rock and Geneva were LONG overdue for their naps, we skipped that part.
Instead Rock rode on Daddy's shoulders as we passed the original Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Stand.
After a nap (for me and the babes), we met our friend Robert (he's the guy in the background) at Prospect Park.
While the other guys did some frisbee throwing, Fix practiced some Rock-throwing.
Thank you to Will (he's the guy in the background), Christel, and Geneva for hosting us!

Mr. and Mrs. Cason

Two weekends ago, Jim and Maggie got married! We were so glad to be invited to help them celebrate.
Rock was not feeling so great... and while we were sad that he was under the weather, we were happy that he was sitting still during the ceremony. Even if he was facing the wrong way.
Ms. Roberts and the Hollidge clan all faced the right way.
Poor guy, even though he needed a nap, we dragged him to the reception.
At least he made friends with Charlotte...
And the rest of the young ladies in attendance.

They all watched Maggie and Jim's first dance together, and then Charlotte joined in for the bridal party's group dance. It was quite impressive. Even more impressive -- Maggie sewed her own wedding dress!
Deb took a picture of Rock 'dancing' (I believe he thought it was a game of Ring Around the Rosies) with Pastor Coleman and Mary Grace...
Then I took a picture of him dancing with Deb -- he actually asked her to dance! Whatta flirt. Congratulations again to Maggie and Jim!

Armonka

Rock finally learned how to play the "armonka" Papa John gave him. This video is from the day he first figured it out so at this point he was doing a lot of fake playing -- where he holds the harmonica up to his lips and sings. But believe me when I say he quickly learned how to really play -- I'll get another video soon to prove it!

Lazy Monday

This past Monday (our day off), Rock slept in 'til 9:45!! And thus, we slept in 'til 9:45 too!! It was wonderful. Since we were all in such a lazy, sleepy mood, we decided to run out to Panera for a very late breakfast.
Doesn't Rock look preppy in this outfit? He wanted to wear one of Daddy's hats and he actually left it on for most of the morning!
What could be distracting Rock from taking an adorable picture crossing the street with his father?
A truck! Or as Rock calls them "Tuck! Tuck! Tuck!" Very exciting.

Mothers Day Brunch

Just a quick note to all you new mothers out there. Don't wait until your son is exhausted and hot from playing outside to take a Mothers Day picture. If you do, you'll get a scene like this one.

Even if he was sad to be with me, I was happy to be with him. I love this little boy who made me a mother!
We were lucky enough to have the world's greatest Grandmothers attend the Mothers Day Brunch I threw on the Saturday before Mothers Day. We let them bring their husbands as well, but they weren't allowed in the picture.

What?

Rock is learning more and more words these days. And his speech has become quite clear. But occasionally he still talks in excited nonsense-speak. The video above has me particularly befuddled. Could someone please translate?

Rock's Photography

Someone is very into taking "pih-chuhs" these days. Every time I bring out our point-and-shoot camera, Rock wants to take a "pih-chuh" of something.
Sometimes he actually gets people in the shots.
But usually his shots are a little.... um... boring.
He also has a bad habit of putting his finger in front of the lens. Even though I try and correct his grip he assures me with a firm "NO THANK YOU!" that he's got it right and pictures look best with a large black mass covering half the frame. Thank goodness for the delete button.

MARTA! A look back at March 24th...

I can't believe I forgot to post pictures from Marta's visit back in March. We had so much fun hanging out with her (and her friends) and can't wait to see her again at the beach this summer! Marta is so fun, it was impossible for me to pick just one picture. Enjoy.

April in Review

We started the month of April with a trip to the doctor's office for Rock's wellness check-up. He weighs 30 lbs. and is 33 inches tall. We figured that he had grown a little taller because his pants were so short!
On April 15th, we watched Sophie for the afternoon/evening.
Since it was raining, we went to Annapolis mall where the kiddies could run free in the play yard. Afterwards, we ate at Chick-fil-A.
Not only was the food awesome, but Sophie and Rock got cool hats and balloons and the Chick-fil-A cow made an appearance!!! Rock was really pumped about that.
All day Rock kept saying "Show-fee!!!" I think he likes her.
And she likes him!
Too much fun!
Also in April we went to Quiet Waters Park for the first time.
Rock loved the swings.
So did I.
The weekend of April 18th, we had our annual Spring Conference at church. It was a great time of learning from Dr. Bryan Chapell and Dr. David Coffin. We were glad that the Hathaways came to the conference so we could hang out on Saturday afternoon. The boys pictured above both took a FOUR HOUR NAP that afternoon.
After they woke up, we took a walk to the park. Holly and Steve were there with their cute dog. I forget her name, but Rock loved her.
Rock continues to love Becky and we continue to go with her to Cetrone's Pizza. They just added some arcade games. Don't tell Rock that if you add quarters the screen changes and you can actually play the game.
We also enjoyed a SUPER fun trip to the Baltimore Aquarium with the Saladas. Rock loved seeing all the cool animals and hanging out with Violet. They shared a lot of hugs as we looked at fish.
The sad news is that my camera broke while we were there so now it's stuck in the super zoomed in position. I'll be calling Nikon today to see about getting this fixed.
