Afternoon Nap

Take a look at the size of this kid! Rock really really loves to push up on his legs and wiggle around. Thus it was hard to get focused pictures of him before his afternoon nap.
Fix and Rock like to look over their shoulders.
Here we are getting ready to settle in for a long nap.... Well, one of us is sleeping...

Happy Halloween!

Rock was lucky enough to get three, yes three, Halloween outfits this year. So, we wore the first one to the pumpkin patch (thanks again Aunt Bethany!). This is Halloween outfit number two, which we wore for most of the day on Wednesday.
This one was purchased by Rock's Nana B (I keep changing her Grandma name because she hasn't picked one yet!) the day after she found out I was pregnant. It was purchased along with the "Going to Grandma's" outfit seen in the Monday Night Dinners blog, and a "Baby's 1st Christmas" outfit that will be worn in the near future. All three were gender neutral because we didn't know if Fetus Fix was a boy or girl at that time. It also came with a hat but Rock usually runs kinda hot (like his father, the human radiator) and so we decided not to wear the hat in order to keep him from overheating.
At around 3:30 pm, I realized that I needed to get carving if we were going to have any jack-o-lanterns to set outside for the trick-or-treaters. Fix was busy preparing for his oral examinations for the Presbytery Committee (the next step in getting licensed and ordained) and Rock was busy taking a nap. So, since they couldn't join me in the carving fun, I decided to make pumpkins to honor them in their absence. In case you couldn't tell, the one on the left is Rock, the one on the right is Fix.
Here we are, with Rock in his third and final Halloween outfit. This one was given to him by Erin (older sister of our former neighbor Megan) and Dave (her husband). This picture was taken at Mike (head pastor at RPCB) and Barb's house where we were having dinner. This is our weekly Wednesday night activity -- dinner together with the pastor and his wife and then prayer meeting at the church. Rock's outfit was a hit both with the trick-or-treaters coming to Mike and Barb's house as well as with the folks at the prayer meeting.
What do you think? Do they look like their pumpkins?
This one just made me laugh.

Perfect Pumpkin Quest 2007

Well, I had been talking up the pumpkin patch at Queen Anne Farm for a few days, so Rock was really excited about going to pick out his first Halloween pumpkin. He decided to take a nap before we went so he would be wide awake for this monumentous occasion.
So, here we are at the pumpkin patch! Wake up Rock! There's a giant pumpkin for you to explore! Alas, no. The boy would rather sleep than explore...
And he wasn't really up for opening his eyes for a 'sitting on a pumpkin' picture with dad...It's funny that he would keep sleeping through all this fun when he had been looking forward to it for so long. When I asked him to inspect this pumpkin to see if it was up to his standards, he just kept snoozing away.
Look Rock! A funky squash/gourd/green thing! That's worth waking up for, isn't it? Apparently not.
Okay, what about if we pick a pumpkin that's your size? Just open your eyes and tell me what you think of this one. When it came down to it, none of this pumpkin stuff was worth his time. That is until...
The CREEPY-WORK-OUT-PUMPKIN-BUNNY-HEAD! Now that's worth waking up for!
And now that it's time to go home, the boy was ready to play.
*** Note that the adorable jack-o-lantern outfit in these pictures was brought to you by Bethany, Rock's favorite aunt in Florida.***

More Smiles

This smile melts his mom's heart! We are seeing more and more of it these days.

Yay! Our hearing is perfect!

So in the hospital, Rock's left ear failed his hearing test. Then, when they checked it again on the 18th of October, it failed again. So, we had to go to a hearing specialist last week. Thankfully, this time he passed with flying colors and his hearing was dubbed "perfect." It turns out there was a just a little fluid in the ear that hadn't drained yet. Even more exciting than being perfect was the "I had my hearing checked" sticker Rock got to wear for the rest of the day.

Scratchy Face

Somebody likes to scratch his face. Rock woke up last Thursday with this fun new injury on his face. Thankfully, it was on a Thursday because that is the day that Rock's Grandma Brockman comes to visit! She is the only one brave enough to cut his fingernails!
We love our weekly visits with Mommarama. It gives us a chance to get some housework done (or sometimes she does it for us which is even better!) or run to the grocery store or sometimes we just meet her somewhere for fun.

A Visit from Will

Will drove down all the way from the Big Apple just to meet little Rock. We can't wait until Uncle Jason's wedding in December when we will get to see Will (and more importantly, his wife Christel and daughter Geneva) again!
A little bit a of tummy time.
All the boys hanging out together.
