Hathaway Play Day

On February 9th, we went to the Hathaways to hang out with Aiden, Sophie and Clip for the day. Although we enjoyed playing with all the kiddies, the true motivation for this visit was to give Annie and Rachel a chance to have grown-up conversation and get out of our respective houses!
This was the first time that the boys really seemed to acknowledge each other. After Rock tried to eat Clip's sleeve, Clip patted him on the head.
When we went to the church playground Sophie brought along her most important accessory -- a 'necklace' that contained the long-dead remains of a large bee and a large spider.
Aiden on the slide.
Gotta love the hat. Thanks Hathaways for having us over to play! We had a blast.

Perhaps Princeton?

A late entry in the where-should-I-go-to-college?-debate is Grandpa Rocket's alma mater Princeton University.
Although Rock doesn't look too sold on it in these pictures, this is only one of three different Princeton onesies that Grandpa Rock bought for him. Not to mention the socks.
*** And just a quick note about the sofa Rock is sitting on... No, we have not decided to start decorating in early 70's decor. We were given a fabulously comfortable old sleeper sofa from Papa John and Nana Kerry. I am in the process of making a slipcover. Look for a blog on that when I finish! ***

Auction-a-riffic!

Did we happen to mention that Aunt Susanna works at a swanky auction house? Rock is checking out one of the vintage high chairs up for sale. We went to a preview night for the most recent auction and then out to dinner with Grandma Cokie and Aunt Zuni.
Yes, Rock's shirt says "R is for ROCK." And yes, this will not be the last time you see him in it! Thanks Hathaways for this awesome shirt.

The Rock Workout

Welcome to ROCK'S BABY WORKOUT!!! To begin, we stretch. Flex your delts as you bring your arms out nice and wide.
Next exercise your face muscles by sucking your own lip and making yourself look really strange.
At this point, you will probably be feeling pretty tired. Let your father support you around your bulging pecs as you do a few squats.
Then, give up on your workout and let your dad do a few 'baby presses.' Make him do about twenty reps since you only weigh 20 lbs.
Make your dad exercise his lip muscles by kissing your chubby cheeks.
Finally, treat yourself to a relaxing massage. You've worked hard, you deserve it!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh... that feels good!

The Wiggliest Wiggle Worm at Outback

Rock discovers beer.
Wine is even better.
Thanks to a very generous Christmas gift from a family at our church, we were able to go out to Outback Steakhouse for a fun family dinner. This was especially nice as we had been couped up in the house all week long with yucky coughs/colds.
Now please bear with me. Fix used this evening out as a chance to take literally 141 pictures of Rock. I hope you can appreciate the fact that I didn't put all 141 pictures on this blog and not be angry that I still put so many. I just can't resist! My apologies in advance.
Rock does not like to be turned away from the action.
This shot just made me laugh.

Below are several blurry shots that capture just how active our little model is these days!
Rock really likes leaning on tables. It's the little things I guess.
Drool Monkey!
Intense Drool Monkey.
This is how mom feels after the marathon photo session... She's looking forward to Valentine's Day when Rock will be left with a babysitter and Mom and Dad can have a real date!

Rainy Day

"WHAT?! You wanna go out in THIS weather?!?"
"Yeah, even though I've got this raincoat on, I'm not so sure about going outside in the rain"
"Oh. Dad's going to be there?!
I'm in!"
p.s. There is something about this picture that makes me think of my baby pictures. Does anyone else think he looks like me here or am I still hoping against hope that this child will bear some resemblence towards his mother?

Big Boy in a Big Chair

Rock loves to sit in the chair in his nursery. This comfy, rocking, swiveling chair was given to me by my coworkers at Designers Gallery, my old job in California. We are SO grateful to have such a nice chair in Rock's room -- it's great for story time.
