WILD ANIMAL PARK!

Although we lived a few miles away from the Wild Animal Park (a fabulous Zoo that puts the animals in living situations that are very close to their natural habitats), we never got there while we were living in Escondido. Fortunately, the Wagners have Season Passes and an extra visitors pass for me!
We were lucky enough to have Curious George (on loan from Gwen's school) with us for this visit to the Park.
Of course we picked an ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUSLY HOT HOT HOT day to spend out in the sun. We found this cute hat in the gift shop to protect Rock's head from the UV rays and give him a cute souvenir from his San Diego trip.

Here are some of the many animals we saw... starting with the lions.
Elephants.
Look closely and you'll see a baby with his mom.
Elijah watching the ducks.
Pretty birds.
Is it Meerkats or Meercats? Of course my favorite animals were Gwen and Elijah.
By the end of the day Rock was exhausted and overheated...
But he revived quickly at home with some water from Dad.

All Work and Some Play

We visited my old job while we were in San Diego. Ray put Rock to work doing some number-crunching on one of my old calculators.
Rock liked introducing Cheryl to Meester Frog.
Cheryl liked letting Rock test out the merchandise.

Comstock Karaoke!

In Escondido, there has always been one awesome place to go for Karaoke -- THE COMSTOCK. When I lived in Esco, we spent many a Girls Night at this dive bar. In fact, we went so frequently, we earned a nickname from Karaoke Joe. We were affectionately known as "Woody's Round-up Girls." Yes, it's a long story. Anyway, boy were we surprised when we found that the Comstock had new owners, no pool table, a new stage, and (GASP!) no Miller Lite posters!
This new Karaoke bar attracted a new clientele of (hmm...how shall I put this delicately?...) old f*rts.
But one thing I'll say for them -- they sure could sing!
Although most of their tunes were from the Rat Pack era, the fella pictured above rocked out to "Old Time Rock-n-Roll." Sarah was a fan.
We had an awesome time regardless.
The only disappointment was when the Karaoke ended at ELEVEN PM!!! Although we love the new look and lack of trashy decor, Comstock will need to stay open later if they want to keep the "Woody's Round-up Girls" coming back.

Eeny-Meeny-Miny-Mo

Elijah taught us that Eeny Meeny Miny Mo can be more than just a way to choose between two things. It can actually be a game in and of itself. Fun for hours!
I love the way he says "holler."

Back on the Train!

Here are some shots of us waiting for the train.
And waiting...
And waiting...
All the anticipation of waiting wore out the boys and they made for very blah traveling companions on the trip home.

More Time with Molly

To finish up our time in L.A., Rock played with Molly.
Actually they didn't so much play together as sit near each other on the same floor.
Check out this groovy ROCK AND ROLL shirt that Nana Kerry got him so he wouldn't forget her on his trip.

I know...

I've been wretchedly bad about blogging recently. But I promise I will get on here soon and put up some fun pictures. It's been REALLY busy at the Fix household the past two weeks.

In the meantime, you can check out some more pictures from our trip to Cali on my friend Michele's blog.

Don't hate us for being gone so long! We'll be back soon!
