Scrunched Nose

Although he looks angry in this picture, he's not. Rock is just showing off his latest look -- the scrunched up nose face.
I think I prefer his concerned stare:
This was taken when we were garden shopping with Grandma Cokie.

Chasing Away the Ladies

Rock is having a hard time figuring out girls.
In an effort to woo Miss Sophia, he choose to grab at her eyeball.
When that didn't work, he tried to gnaw at her shoulder. She just crawled away.He then looked to me for some help, but what could I do? I guess he's just learning the hard way that women are not that easy to please!

Rock and Clip

They just won't smile at the same time!

Big Boy Car Seat

Thanks to Martin and Stephanie (Connor's parents) Rock may be in a big kid (non-infant) carseat these days...
but that doesn't mean he's got everything figured out. For example, he would appreciate it if someone could please show him how to get this toy off his leg.

Goodbye California

Poor baby boy! I know -- I didn't want to go home either!
But soon enough we found ourselves on a crammed flight back home. At least this time dad was there to help.

Back in the Hot Tub

After the beach we hit the hot tub with Connor again.
Once again, Rock soaked it up.
Except at one point Connor got a bit too close.
So Rock had to sock him in the nose.
Although Connor doesn't look too sure in this picture, believe me when I say that they made up.
Of course the hot tub was much more fun this time around because Connor and Rock had their dads there.
But even the best times come to an end. We had to get out because someone was getting too pruney.

THE BEACH!

Also on the docket for our last day was Rock's first trip to Encinitas and the Pacific Ocean. Well, his first trip to any ocean.
I miss the palm trees!
Even though he had to wear sunscreen, Rock smiled away on the beach -- he must take after his parents in their love for the California surf and sand.
Here are Rock's feet making their first contact with the sand.
And he was fascinated.
After he felt the sand on his toes, Rock didn't look up for a good 20 minutes.
It was all so very curious.
No time to smile at the camera Dad -- Rock had more important things to discover!
As usual, Rock loved taking a piggie back ride on Dad's shoulders.
Oh I cannot wait to get back to the beach this summer!!!
For now, we'll treasure these memories of Rock's first day at the beach.
Precious.
