No Such Thing as a Free Breakfast...

Lately, I've been sick. And by lately, I mean since before Christmas. I haven't been posting much 'cause we haven't been doing much. Just laying around the house trying to get healthy.
Rock has been sick for a lot of that time as well; hence his wiping snot off his face in the picture above. Last Wednesday, Rock and I reached a breaking point so I decided to get out of the house and do a drive thru breakfast (thus containing our sickness to our vehicle).
The best part was, we had these two coupons so we could eat a free breakfast! One free donut from Dunkin Donuts and one free chicken biscuit from Chick-Fil-A. What more could we want?
Well, we wanted drinks. So I brought those from home. Not free, but we didn't buy them that morning so they felt free.
And we were already hungry before we left so I grabbed a clementine for each of us. Again, not exactly free, but by adding fresh fruit we made this a nutritious breakfast... right?
I'd never had Chick-Fil-A breakfast before and let me tell you, this puppy was good. And Rock didn't like it so I got to eat the whole thing! I took this picture at a stoplight and ate the rest of it before I got to the next stoplight so this is all you get.
Then, at Dunkin Donuts I broke down. Our coupon was for one free donut. But I asked for two. Hey, I'm 7.5 months pregnant and I can't find a single carb that I don't adore so I paid the 89 cents and went for it. However, I immediately learned my lesson. I requested a chocolate frosted** and I got this sprinkled thing. Should have stuck to our free breakfast plan.
Rock requested a "color donut" and that's what he got. When asked, he said it tasted like candy and he was right. I hope we're healthy again soon so we can do more interesting things.
** Apparently, Dunkin Donuts discontinued the peanut donut?! So sad!

Omputer

Lately, Rock has had a lot of work to do on his "omputer" (not sure why the first letter is often left off this word?). He takes it with him everywhere and he can even type while asleep!

Christmas is Dead

Remember our 'perfect' Christmas tree? Apparently if you don't water them, trees do not stay perfect.
Thankfully my mom helped me take down all our Christmas clutter treasures last week. Just a few needles on the ground.

No Go

We tried for one day, but on day two we stopped. Rock is not ready for potty training. He LOVED wearing big boy pants. He LOVED helping his new doll use the bathroom. He LOVED the treats he got for keeping his pants dry. He LOVED emptying his potty into the toilet and flushing. We ran about 50/50 with accidents and successes. But our success was solely dependent on whether or not he was sitting on the potty at the right moment. His brain understood the whole process but his bladder did not. He'd never tell me when he went to the bathroom (while sitting on the potty) because he didn't know he'd done it. Then he'd be completely shocked by an accident and frustrated that he had to practice going to the potty when he didn't know how to stop his own bladder. As I said, if it works, it works. It didn't work. I could be a frustrated slave to the potty for a few months or I could be honest and humble and admit that Rock, while still very much a genius, is just not ready to make this step.AND I'm pregnant and get weary from just laying on the couch these days. I don't want to spend the last months of just-the-three-of-us (not to mention the first months with the new baby) helping Rock continually clean up accidents. I really look forward to trying again after Shin makes her debut. For now, I'm happy to change two sizes of diapers!
p.s. Rock is not wearing pants in the pictures above because he was wearing big boy pants and trying to keep them dry. He got the "You are Special Today" plate because he had many successes that day and he is special to me whether or not he's potty trained yet.

Big Boy

What makes one a "Big Boy?" Is it when he starts to walk? Is it when he talks in full sentences? Rock has been doing those things for months. But lately, he's made a big step that makes him feel really big to me.
Rock FINALLY got his Big Boy Bed! Although I think he was ready for it awhile ago, I'm glad we got it before Shin makes her big debut in March. Now there is plenty of time to get used to the idea that his little sister will be sleeping in 'his' crib.
This was a gift from Rocket and Juju so it's only fitting that Juju read his first bedtime story in the new bed. He just LOVES sleeping in this bed and he's only fallen out of it twice in two weeks. Please ignore the slapped together bedding in these pictures; I didn't have anything ready when the bed was delivered. I've since made a duvet cover and I'll post pictures with that soon enough. But for now I'm on to Rock's next step in becoming a Big Boy.
Yep folks. Tomorrow's the day. We are going to try and take another step into Big Boyhood. We've been talking about it for months and I said I'd try it out after Christmas so here we go! If doing it in one day works, it works. If not, we'll work on plan B. But if you think of it, pray for us tomorrow!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We rang in 2010 at Jason and Heather's place. Even though I was feeling rough and coughing all over their other guests, I still enjoyed their beautiful party...
Complete with their own NYE ball!
Zuni came along and brought her HEAVENLY PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES! I ate approximately 75.
This night was also our 7 year anniversary! To this day we are still awkward around each other.
Not really. Here's to 2010 and many more years of wedded bliss!
