First Memorial Day!

Rock was so excited that the Beglins were able to join us for our Memorial-Day-Hathaway-Rabenhorst-Brockman-Fix-Monday-Night-Dinner-Cookout(MDHRBRMNDC for short)! Not only were Ted and Megan there, but 5-week old Elsie came along too!
We all thought she was pretty cute.
Sophie and Aiden kept us all entertained.
And the Hathaways had the kiddie pool out for all the kids to enjoy.
Seeing as Clip had an extra swimming diaper and the kids were having so much fun, we got Rock suited up to join in the fun...Perhaps he was embarrassed that everyone could see his dimpled knees and chubby thighs.Good thing Aunt Zuni and the swing were close by to cheer him up.

Clapping

Rock loves to clap. I think this is mostly because he loves noise and the thought that he can make noise with just his own body is THRILLING to him. I foresee armpit f*rting noises in the near future. He usually does this for longer and he usually makes some noise when he does it, but he (and his mom and his dad) have been sick this week so this performance wasn't up to par. You get the idea.

BASEBALL!

To kick off Memorial Day weekend, Rocket and Cokie took us to a baseball game at the NEW Nationals Stadium downtown.
The boys were SUPER excited for Rock's first baseball game!
We had a lot of fun playing peekaboo with dad's Nat's hat.
Rock is very adept at yanking things off of his head and smiling big when you say the magical word "Peekaboo!"
We spent a lot of time planning his Nationals outfit -- complete with red socks.
Maybe we should have spent more time cleaning the carrot residue from dinner out of his nose.We call it the Kiss of Hunger. When he's really tired or sleepy (or both as he was here), Rock will give you a head butt/kiss. If you aren't careful, these can really hurt. But if you're lucky (as I was here), he'll also pull your hair!
Family shot.
Rocket taught Rock the ins and outs of the game. Thanks again Brockman Grandparents for a great time!

Can you take me HIGHER?

Thank you Isaac and Joanna for this awesome high chair. Rock LOVES it almost as much as he loves vegetables. Seriously, he loves vegetables. Fruit? Notsomuch.

Playing with Nana Kerry

Nana Kerry is such a good Grandmother. It warmed my heart as I walked down the hallway to see these two pairs of legs laying on the ground, playing together.
p.s. Thanks to Joe and Jan for Rock's cute outfit!

Flowers and Chocolate

Rock's Dad knows the way to my heart is through flowers and chocolate.
So pretty. Thank you honey!

One Last Mother's Day Shot with Sarah!

Mom said "Rock can stand in for Bethany and then I'll have all my girl's here." I'm not sure how that works, but regardless, here we are!

Happy (day before) Mother's Day!

A few pictures of the day before Mother's day -- taken right before Aunt Zuni and Aunt Sarah made us an AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS steak dinner.
I know we are overexposed in the shot above, but I thought Rock's face looked really cute.
Okay, so to everyone else his face probably doesn't look that much different here, but as his mom I can see the difference!!!
Here's an adorable family shot. Oh wait... not so much.Much better. Happy Day Before Mother's Day to me!

Aunt Sarah

Rock was so excited that his Aunt Sarah surprised Grandma Cokie with a Mother's Day weekend visit.
He had a lot of fun trying to eat her nose.
Meanwhile, Aunt Susanna was just glad that the man in the crazy hat was on the other side of the glass.
No time to smile for pictures when Aunt Sarah's holding a spoon. Fascinating.

Remote

Rock is already obsessed with technology. If he sees a computer, a telephone, a cell phone, a remote, or anything else with buttons -- he wants it.
Needless to say, he was overjoyed when I suggested that my parents give him their old remote from a TV they no longer use.
He takes it with him everywhere and it's his favorite toy.
That is, except for his Papa John toy.
He loves playing with him more than any toy.

Reunion

If you know my friend Beth , you have probably already read here about this get together. It all started when Beth, Annie, and I were young and we all grew up together at Wallace Presbyterian Church. Then Beth's mom got married and they moved to South Carolina. Although it's been years since we've all seen each other, we've kept in touch recently via our blogs. So, when Beth came to town, she made sure to set up a playdate with all our families. Here are the three of us. I wish I had a picture of us when we were little to show you all. We all gathered at the Hathaways and started the day by exploring their new swing set.
Isaac shows off his climbing skills.

Aiden, Kristin, and Lauralyn give the swings a run for their money!Well, Rock started the day by playing in the exersaucer...But when he got bored, we tried the swing, and he LOVED it. Back inside Aiden and Sophie played with their Nana. And Clip shared his toys with Rock.As usual, it didn't take them long to stop playing with the toys and start pestering each other.Kristin wisely stayed away. Man, other kids toys are SO MUCH FUN!

No More Serving!

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of going to Sonoma Grill downtown for Jason's (Fix's older brother) last night in the restaurant industry. Jason has racked up about 15 years in the restaurant biz but now he's leaving to tackle the crazy world of nine to five. Dan organized everyone to surprise him at his restaurant so we could send him off right -- by serving us!
Pictured above, from left to right, Papa John, Auntie H (Jason's lovely wife Heather), Nana Kerry, Rachel, The Man of the Hour Jason, Fix, Samantha, and Dan.
Here he is clocking out of his last restaurant shift!
Hello desk job!
p.s. The title of this blog is again, my attempt at being cheeky. Anyone who knows Jason (and Auntie H for that matter) knows that he truly has a servant's heart and no matter where he goes or what he does, I am sure he will continue to serve those he loves with a generous heart and a big smile. Best of luck J-dogg!
