Zuni's Birthday Dinner

Later that day, we also celebrated Susanna's birthday with the Hathaway/ Brockman/ Rabenhorst clan.
Fix bounced Sophie on his knee singing the "Popcorn Man" song.
Rock wasn't quite sure how he felt about another baby boy shot.
But eventually we convinced him it was a good idea.
Such sweet little boys!
Fix and I feel it is our duty to get Sophie and Aiden really excited before their parents take them home to go to bed.
Clip - don't look so happy to leave us!

4 month appointment on January 21st!

What me? 4 months old?!
Doctors appointments have come to be a big deal in our house because well, we have a big boy! Everyone was anxious to hear how much weight/length/etc. Rock had added on in the past two months. My cousin Tyler held the record with 19 lbs. 5 oz. at his 4 month appointment. We were hoping to break that record.
Unfortunately, Rock did not break the record. He weighed in at ONLY 19 lbs. and 27" long! This was right after we found out that he's still in the 95 + percentile for all his measurements. You can see he was stunned. His length is the average length of a 7 month old.
And his head is the size of an average 9 month old! Good job Rock! This was pretty exciting to him, almost as exciting as the paper that they put on the doctor's table. See below. (Just a quick note as to why he's wearing just a diaper and a snow cap... we had to keep him in just his diaper for the doctor to examine him but it was FREEZING cold in this waiting room... also the hat is from Rock's good friend Melissa C. in California)

Hanging with Cousin Caleb (again)

Rock might have been a little happier to see his cousin if he could actually see his cousin.
There we go - got the hat off his face. There is a lot of cuteness going on in this car!
Aunt Susi has DELICIOUS fingers.
Caleb loves the water at Cracker Barrel. I told him to try the biscuits, but kids never listen!

First Metro Ride

If you look closely, you can see the carpet of the Metro to Rock's left and the edge of the Metro seat across from us. Rock really liked the subway -- it put him to sleep.

Cousin Caleb

Caleb and Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Joseph stayed for an extra three weeks or so after the Holidays so that Uncle Joseph could do some home improvement work for Nana Kerry and Papa John. The good news is that meant we had lots of time to play with Cousin Caleb! Above they were hanging out together on the floor.
After we put Rock down, we were free to hang out with the Cabel Guy (family nickname for Caleb and yes, it is intentionally spelled Cabel -- long story!).
One day, all the Fix siblings took Nana Kerry and Papa John out for lunch so I got to watch the boys! I couldn't resist lining them up for this picture! The creepy part is how Rock is getting closer and closer to Caleb's length and weight even though they are 6 months apart!
I love this onesie, and our "Thing 1," Rock Daniel Fix!

2008 IS GREAT!

Rock continues to smile away in 2008.
He still really loves bath-time. He especially enjoys kicking his legs and splashing the water around EVERYWHERE. Check out that tongue!
He loves the pizza at Cetrone's Pizza Place.
And he loves sucking his lower lip. His mom loves this outfit from her former co-worker Cheryl. It has matching dachsund socks!

Happy FIVE YEAR Anniversary!

For our FIVE YEAR (has it really been that long?) Anniversary, we decided to drink the bottle of wine that we had saved from our wedding on New Years Even 2002.
We were excited to see how our wine tasted after aging for five years. This was just one of the yummy wines we had specifically selected from our favorite wineries in the finger lakes of New York state.
Oops!
I guess when the wine-people say that you shouldn't store your wine in a hot truck on a cross country trip from California to Maryland, they are right.
Thankfully we had some Chandon sparkling wine to pop open and put the celebrating back on track! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Here's to better wine storage in the next five years of our marriage!

Other December Visits

Rock enjoyed meeting all the Mothership guys that came to town for Uncle Jason's wedding. Here he is hugging Isaac.
Rock also loved meeting Megan and Ted -- our friends from WSC. Rock cannot wait until Baby "Bad News" Beglin is born in April, as she is sure to be a cutie pie!

BAPTISM ROCKS!

The Sunday after Uncle Jason and Aunt Heather's wedding was a very exciting day for us. Rock Daniel Fix was baptized! Although he was asleep when Mike took him from my arms, he didn't cry and was back asleep by the time Mike gave him back to me.
We are so grateful to God for this beautiful gift and so glad that he is now baptized as a covenant child.
It was especially nice to have so many friends and family in town to share this big day with us. We had these dear ones over for lunch after the service. Rock (still in his baptism outfit from Grandma Cokie) and Caleb entertained the adults by kicking and playing on the floor.

Jason and Heather's Wonderful Wedding

On December 29th, Heather Tinsley and Jason Fix became one! YAY HOORAY! We've been waiting for this day for a long time.
Here's a shot of the boys in their kilts. I made the kilts for Rock and his cousin Caleb.
Again, because I didn't take any pictures, I don't have more of Rock, but here's another shot of Caleb. Doesn't he look cute?! Uncle Jason gave the boys two of his bowties to wear. Adorable!
Caleb dancing with Aunt Susi. She looked breath-takingly gorgeous!
Uncle Joseph, Cousin Caleb, Rock and Fix. It was one awesome night. I'm sorry I didn't document it better. I'll pass on any future pictures that I get.

Jason and Heather's Rehearsal

Okay so if you've been paying attention to what I've written on this blog in the past few days, you may have noticed a theme among my holiday pictures. The theme I went for this year was "lack of pictures" (except of course in terms of Rock portraits). At Jason and Heather's Rehearsal and Wedding I took this new theme to an extreme. The picture above is the ONLY picture I got of the rehearsal (if you squint you can see Heather and Jason at the front of the beautiful church). I did not take ONE PICTURE (That's right, NOT EVEN ONE SINGLE) of the entire wedding day. Thankfully, other people were not preoccupied with their babies and I was able to get some pictures from others to post...
No, Rock did not dye his hair red for the wedding, that is Caleb on Uncle Jason's lap -- this was taken at the Rehearsal Dinner.

First Christmas Glamour Shots

Okay so you only have your 1st Christmas once.
Thus, your parents have to take a million shots of just you!
Trust me there were MANY more than what you see here.
"No more pictures mom!!!"
"Oh, you didn't get a shot with my hands in my mouth yet? Happy to oblige!"

Fix Christmas

Here are some pictures from our Christmas celebration with the Fix family. Yes yes, I neglected to get a picture of Uncle Jason, (Aunt to be) Heather, Papa John, Nana Kerry, Aunt Susi, Uncle Joseph or myself. BUT I got pictures of the two cousins in their matching Christmas outfits.
We did not buy these outfits for Rock and Caleb to wear together. They were given by two different people to the two different boys. But how could we resist a matching outfit picture!
Cute Caleb
Sweet baby boy.
Okay so Rock and Caleb don't look so hot in this one but it's the best picture I got of the four of them.
Why does Aunt Elizabeth think it's funny for her son to push Rock around? And why does Rock's dad think it's funny too?
Someone is teething on his mom's face!
