Parade

The Saturday before Mother's Day, Rock, Louisa and I went to the parade in Laurel.
Something distracted Rock from looking at the camera in this picture...
That would be the very loud fire engine with fun flashing lights.
The reason we went was to see our friends Zack (left of bike in orange Grasshoppers uniform), Zeke (riding bike with sign), and their mom Joni (walking in yellow shirt). They go to our church (along with sister Alethea and dad Phil) and are in our new Supper Club Group.** But instead of supper, Joni invited our group to see the parade and then eat brunch together at their house. We were more than happy to attend as this meant we got a lot of awesome loot. Louisa nicely stored the plethora of candy that was thrown in our direction in her stroller. The candy that didn't get stored in her stroller got stored in Rock's tummy, prompting him to dance around for the second half of the parade.
Although it is clearly an old fire engine and definitely NOT a tow truck, there was something about this guy that reminded me and Rock of Mater from Cars.
And here are all the dudes walking back to the McGovern's house where the meal was scrumptious! Thank you to Joni and Phil for hosting a great first meeting of our Supper Club. Rock and Louisa (and their mother) had a blast!
**The Bradley family is also in our Supper Club group but the only shot I got of any of them is the one above where you can see David (green shirt far left), Dan (red shirt), Benjamin (being held) and Eric (gray shirt, far right). Sorry I missed getting a picture of the girls.

Flash

Unlike her older brother, someone still hates naked time.
I took this picture to document her deep sadness...
But then I saw that the flash made her calm down.
The more I flashed, the more chill she became.
But the point of getting her naked was for her bath. Which she continues to strongly dislike...
Until you get her out and start snapping the flash again.
"Wait Mom! Where's the bright light in my face?!"
"That's better."
Of course not all our pictures with flash are winners.

Building

Fix and I love the National Building Museum. So last Monday we took Rock and Louisa downtown to see it.But we got there at 12:30 and it was closed until 1:00 for a private event.
So we walked a few blocks down the street to Auntie H and Uncle Jason's work to have lunch with them. We enjoyed a delicious meal at their cafeteria and a brief tour of their work spaces.
Then Rock tripped and got a major bump with rug burn on his forehead.
To ease his pain, Auntie H let Rock take her friend Jane Austen with us to the Building Museum. We found Jane to be a most delightful companion.
She babysat Louisa...
And took a nice picture of the rest of us.
Then I took this one of her with Rock and Fix.
Oh yeah, and then we went to the actual museum that this post is about. We couldn't take pictures in the Parking Garage exhibit but it was pretty fascinating.
Then we went down the hall to the Building Area just for kids. Rock and Fix built lots of structures out of the big Legos.Fix was pretty proud of this structure. Notice Rock's not even in the picture.
While they worked hard, Louisa and I had some girl bonding time (read: nursing).
Louisa also practiced sitting up. Thank you Auntie H, Uncle Jason, Jane Austen, and the Building Museum for a delightful afternoon.
p.s. Their gift shop is fantastic.

Six Year Old?!

I know there will come a day when I think Rock looks so little in this picture. But the other night when Fix and I came upstairs to go to sleep and found Rock sleeping on the chair in our room (don't ask us why he was in there!) we both felt that he looked SO OLD. I can't believe how big Louisa's big brother is!

Starfall

Thank you Missy for introducing us to Starfall.com. Rock has known his letters and their sounds for awhile now, but this site is really helping him learn to read! If we would let him, he would spend all day on this site.
He loves navigating (with his left hand?) through the letters. I really love that I can take a shower without worrying what he's doing.

Tummy Time

Despite the fact that Louisa has great neck control, she does not care for tummy time.
Good thing Juju was there to comfort her.
